Mike proudly served in law enforcement for over 40 years, attending the academy in Albemarle County and then serving the County of Greene. He later joined the Culpeper Police Department, where he remained until his retirement in 2024. He was well known throughout the community; often seen on his motorcycle, making sure everyone slowed down and stayed safe. Mike was a familiar face at many community events, where he enjoyed connecting with others and sharing his love of law enforcement and motorcycles, especially with the youth of Culpeper.
Above all, he loved his family deeply. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren and his grand pup, Charlie. He could always be found at their games, proudly cheering them on. Mike shared a special love of baseball with his son, Eric, and passed that tradition down to his grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished forever. He also coached Little League for many years, encouraging and mentoring young players both on and off the field.
Mike is survived by his children, Eric Grant and wife, Audrey; and Kelli Jo Grant; step daughters. Candy Brown and wife, Tina, and Susan Brown; grandchildren, Easton and Everly Grant, Kara, Ashlynn, Jaliyah, and Jazmyne; grand pup, Charlie and a host of extended family and friends.
