Michael Thomas Gebhart's Obituary
Michael Thomas Gebhart was born in Oakland, Maryland, on March 23, 1951. He spent the first three years of his life in his mother’s hometown of Tera Alta, West Virginia. Michael then moved to Thermopolis, Wyoming, his father’s hometown, where he spent the remainder of his youth.
Michael enlisted in the Army in 1969, the spring of his senior year, and deployed to Gelnhausen Army Base in Germany, until his honorable discharge in September of 1971. He married his wife Jacqueline Beck of Fairfax, Virginia, in February of 1973.
Michael is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; and three children and their partners, Joshua Michael Gebhart and fiancé, Niki Moore, Kyle Adam Gebhart and wife, Michelle Mack Gebhart, and Misha Gebhart Brown and husband, Dejuan Brown. He is the beloved “Pops’ and grandfather and step-grandfather to 16: Gaige Gebhart, Jalen Brown, Kaila Gebhart Gonzalez, Luke Gebhart, Jayden Brown, Amaya Brown, Alyssa Gebhart, Phillip Moore Jr., Selah Brown, Joshua Gebhart, Brody Moore, Mason Gebhart, Jaxson Gebhart, Brielle Brown, Eliza Brown, and Avery Gebhart. Michael also is blessed with five great-grandchildren: Thomas Gebhart, Arabelle Gebhart, Tyler Gonzalez, Mack Gebhart, and Logan Gonzalez.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sue Evans Gebhart and Rex Thomas Gebhart; and his siblings, Mark Evans, Thomas, and Tara.
Michael worked for the DOD at Quantico Marine Base as a Senior Operator for 37 years: he also worked locally at the Ni River Reservoir.
Michael’s favorite scripture was “There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus.” He loved to attend Tuesday Bible studies at Immanuel Baptist in Fredericksburg. Michael served as a youth counselor at the Hillcrest Church of God in Cody, Wyoming, and as a youth counselor and deacon at a local church. To him, God, family, and country were not just words; he believed in prayer, people, and patriotism.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A celebration of life will follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 p.m. Casual dress is preferred.
