Melvin Cleveland Lohr Jr.'s Obituary
Melvin Cleveland Lohr, Jr., 65, of Culpeper, died Thursday, April 13, 2023 at his home. He was born February 24, 1958 in Charlottesville, VA to Frieda Lohr and the late Melvin C. Lohr, Sr.
Melvin was a devoted son, brother, father to his children, and grandfather. He grew up in Aylor Hollow in Madison County. Melvin enjoyed spending time in the mountains and fishing throughout his whole life.
He is survived by his mother; three children, Eli Edward Walkup, Jr., Billy Lee Walkup, and Barbara Gail Gates (Kelly); one daughter-in-law, Christine Faye Walkup; seven grandchildren, Christana Cheyenne Walkup, Vanessa Nicole Walkup, William Theman, Austin Kennedy, Charles William Smoot III, Dustin Paul Smoot, and Kendra Nyree Gates; one great granddaughter, Wynter Rose Franks; one brother, Lewis Lee Lohr (Amanda); and one sister, Patricia Ann Clatterbuck.
In addition to his father, Melvin is preceded in death by his wife, Gail Lynn Lohr; one brother, Lewis Allen Lohr; and one brother-in-law, Larry Clatterbuck.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Pastor Bruce Fincham officiating.
A celebration of Melvin’s life will be held immediately following the service at Unionville Ruritan Club, 24124 Constitution Highway, Unionville, VA 22567.
