Melvin Ronald Herndon's Obituary
Melvin Ronald “Ronnie” Herndon son of Melvin and Merval Herndon passed away on Monday the 25th of July 2022.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean Herndon; his siblings, Kathy Padgett and Geary Herndon; his son, Timothy S Herndon; and grandchildren, Aidan Alexandra Herndon and Brennan Hunter Bantz.
Ronnie was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. His spirit will live on through all who knew him. Ronnie had a wonderful life and so many friends. When he would tell a story you would not only laugh, but also learn about all of the characters involved, who their families were, what they did and where they went to school… He knew everybody. And he loved everybody.
Ronnie was terrible to watch a movie with if you hadn’t seen it because he couldn’t help letting you know before a bad guy was going to get it! His excitement was overwhelmingly contagious.
He sold insurance way back in the day, worked for the Highway Department, but most knew him through his Auto Upholstery business Ron’s Tops. He sold cars at Oscar Tate Buick for years and tractors at Massey Ford. Ronnie finished his career working for the Fredericksburg City School Maintenance Department working for an old dear friend Charlie Carneal who Dad had known since he was in middle school.
Ronnie will be missed by all. He was a special man. As a father, my Pop made me feel like the luckiest boy in the whole world.
Ronnie’s family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A graveside commitment ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday August 1, 2022 at Oak Hill Cemetery, 1902 Plank Road, Fredericksburg. All attendees are requested to meet there at 9:45 am.
