Melvin Robert Baker's Obituary
Mel R. Baker, 66, of Gainesville, passed away after a short and courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, July 17, 2010. He was born in McAllen, TX on Oct. 24, 1943 to the late Robert and Wanita Baker. Mel spent 30 years working for IBM as a managing engineer. He was a member of the Tea Party, the NRA and of the St. Thomas Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, JoAnn M. Baker; a son, Mel R. Baker and wife Samantha; a daughter, Melissa A. Baker; two grandsons, Nicholas James and Jason Patrick Baker; a sister-in-law, Dawn K. Baker; nephew, Kevin E. Baker; as well as numerous other friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth N. Baker.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Stonewall Memory Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to Found and Sons Lee Funeral Chapel, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA 20109. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prince William Health System Foundation, 8700 Sudley Rd.
