Melissa Oliver's Obituary
Melissa Oliver, 63, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Mary Washington Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Oliver, who she missed more than anything in the world; her parents, Lester and Ada Groves; her sisters, Judith Abbott and Janice Sweyart; and her beloved dog, Charlie.
Melissa worked for years as a cab driver and dispatcher, but for the majority of her life, she was a homemaker. She enjoyed going to bingo, playing scratchers, and occasionally going to the casino. Melissa would always watch her weekday soap operas and her afternoon shows which she had on a schedule or recorded to watch again later. She loved all her children and she never believed in being a step-parent. She believed she was a parent just like the others and was the same for the grandchildren. Melissa enjoyed seeing her grandchildren most of all. She loved watching them grow and just overall, having fun with them.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Chinault, of Spotsylvania, Richard Oliver Jr., of King George, Stacie Hough (Nicholas), of Fredericksburg, Cheryl Oliver, of Carmel Church, and Tiffany Carter, of Spotsylvania; her niece, Tracey Abbott, of Spotsylvania, and her grandchildren, Addison, Justin, Andrew, Anthony, Michael, Savannah, and Kaylynn.
Melissa's family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 10719 Courthouse Rd., Fredericksburg. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 9, 2022 in the mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3702 Loren Dr., Fredericksburg.
