Melba M. Decatur's Obituary
Melba M. Decatur of Spotsylvania County passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025.
Melba was born June 10, 1946, in Washington, North Carolina. She worked several jobs but most of the last years working were spent as a contractor at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Melba enjoyed participating in the dances at the Eagles Club and following Michael Hoover, an Elvis impersonator. She loved to collect dolls and antiques, and will be remembered for the love she had for her family.
Melba leaves behind daughter, Donna Liming (Stanley) of Spotsylvania; son, David Lemons of Fredericksburg; daughter, Dorothy Peterson of Copperas Cove, Texas; and daughter, Jennifer Decatur of Temple, Texas; sister, Dorothy Farrell (Mike) of Ripley, West Virginia; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and good friends; and her long-time companion, Marvin Brooks of Gainesville, VA.
Melba was preceded in death by her husband, Grover “Bootsie” Decatur; her parents, Ruby and Guy Banks; brother, Sherman Banks; and sister, Linda Petteway.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
