Medford Jenkins' Obituary
Medford Lee Jenkins, 95, of Culpeper died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Our Father’s House Christian Home. He was born April 19, 1915 in White Shop to the late George E. and Gernie L. Edwards Jenkins.
Mr. Jenkins was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII as well as a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. in Fairfax and was the oldest member of Bethel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Audrey J. Jenkins, one Godson, Jim Sellers of Vienna, VA and his children, Katie Sellers of Vienna, Janetrose Sellers Harrell and her husband, Andre of Columbus, OH, Pamela Sellers Haworth and her husband, Mark of Wilmington, NC, and Meredith Sellers of Vienna, one Goddaughter, Janet Sellers Meisels and her husband, Ray of Oakton, VA, one sister, Helen Levier of Thornville, OH, and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Glen, Alvin and Marshall Jenkins and Christine Bircher.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Adam Meisberger and Rev. Sandy Martin officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Embrey, Virgil Jones, Billy Clatterbuck, Jerry Hedings, Roger Clatterbuck and Bill Settle. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Proctor and John Imlay.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Bethel Baptist Church, 6262 Hoover Rd., Reva, VA 22735 &/or the charity of your choice.
