Maurillo Reyes Penaranda's Obituary
Maurillo Reyes Penaranda, 86, of Culpeper died Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Madison. He was born July 26, 1927 in Cavite, Philippines to the late Juanito and Maria Reyes Penaranda.
Nick was a veteran of the US Navy and later worked with the civil service as an Intelligence Operation Specialist. He became a devoted reader of the Holy Scriptures in his last year of life. He surrendered his life to Jesus and was baptized into Christ last April.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Penaranda; three children, Jean Walker and her husband, Clayton of Virginia Beach, Patricia Hicks and her husband, Michael of Reva and Mark Penaranda and his wife, Mitzi of Manassas; two sisters, Imelda Poblete and her husband, Richard and Evelyn Toledo and her husband, Joey; nine grandchildren, Kristina, Angela, Daniel, Michelle, Rebekah, Joshua, Mark, Nathan and Ryan; and six great grandchildren, Lydia, Hannah, Aubrey, Noah, Chloe and Austin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Geraldo Penaranda.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 6 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be held at Culpeper National Cemetery at a later date.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the American Bible Society, 1865 Broadway, New York, NY 10023-7505 or the Gideon Bible Society, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214.
