Maude Racer's Obituary
Maude Racer, 91, of Sperryville went on to join her Lord and Savior on May 10, 2017. She was born on October 9, 1925 to the late Conner and Mary Jenkins.
Mrs. Racer was an active member of Slate Mills Baptist Church her whole life. She was known as Maude but everyone called her Granny. She worked as a seamstress for Aileen for over 25 years. She enjoyed sewing so much, she would do it in her spare time. She loved the outdoors, gardening and growing flowers, and sitting on her porch in her rocking chair. Above all she loved her Lord, her husband of 59 years and her family.
She is survived by two children, William “Buddy” Dodson and his wife, Shirley of Sperryville, and Debra “Debbie” Frye and her husband, Buck of Culpeper; son-in-law, Jimmy Kilby; foster son, Jacob Butler and his wife, Krystle of CA; nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil B. Dodson; her second husband, Charles W. Racer; one daughter, Betty J. Kilby; one sister, Mary Atkins; four brothers, Nelson, George, Frank and Richard Jenkins; and one niece, Peggy Lawrence.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Sandy Martin officiating.
Interment will follow in Etlan Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Darren Dodson, Kevin Kilby, Jeff Kilby, Jason Kilby, Roy Atkins, Jr., Greg Jenkins and John Kent. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Johnson, Jr., Ellis “Buck” Frye, Posey Turner and Jimmy Kilby.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is serving the family.
