Matthew Edward Donald Woltersdorf's Obituary
Matthew ‘Matt’ Woltersdorf, 40, of Spotsylvania County, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024 leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and a community grateful for his life.
Matt was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend, and Army veteran, remembered for his quiet strength, compassion, and dedication to others. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Karen; his sons, Keir (10) and Rhys (5); his brother, Jacob; and his sister, Rebecah.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elise.
After serving in the Army as a medic, “Mr. Matt” carried forward his commitment to helping others in his work as a substitute teacher. His unexpected gift turned out to be voicing characters during storybook time and portraying the Grinch around Christmas.
Matt’s family was his greatest joy. A hands-on father, he spent countless hours with Keir and Rhys, sharing his love for computer games and Star Wars. The basement may be unfinished but it is littered with fragments of countless lightsabers. He was an amazing cook; his food brought his family together, filling their home with warmth and memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Brock Road Elementary School, as a way to continue Matt’s work. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support and kindness during this time.
