30 years of memories -memories of a man who could take a massive amount of information on any topic, bounce it around in his head and toss it back where you knew he understood it and could provide insight to resolving the issue.
He enjoyed his work tremendously (his photo tells you that) and he was tireless in working for his constituents. A lot of hard work and long hours but the reward was the family we formed in the staff we gathered. He treated everyone with affection and respect.
He was firm but fair in most instances. The exception being when dealing with members of our family, then he was a huge marshmallow.
A very best frriend and an even better husband.
Many great memories of my Grandfather. Early and Mid 90's, Hunting Turkey and Deer in Paso Robles. Getting the Jeep stuck along an offroad trail that led to the place where all the Deer were hiding out. Taking a road trip from LA to Paso Robles with my friend Tony to deliver Grandpa his hunting Jeep.
Many great Memories of my grandfather. 1982, age 9, I remember sitting next to my grandfather on the floor of the house of representatives as the Speaker of the House, Tip Oneill administered the Oath of Office to all the newly elected Congressman.
I am deeply, deeply sadden by the passing of a boss who I had the honor of working for almost 20 years. He will be missed. My boys Joseph & Toby talk about the times that we all hung out together and had lots of fun & laughter. Joseph still makes the lemondae at a resturant the way the boss used to make it and does You and the boss watched them grow into men. I had the honor of meeting Marty Martinez through my mother, Ruth Aldaco, former Mayor. He was a very kind, intelliegent, and nice man. i just wanted to give my condolences to the Martinez/Grant family. I am deeply saddened by by the passing of my Grampa Marty. Even know i have not seen my grampa in a number of years i always felt that he was with me. Grampa if your listening when who ever reads this just know that i love you and was always thinking of you. i will try and follow your foot steps by taking care of those veterans around the work place down here in East L A. Gramps you will be missed not only by your family but also the lives you impacted through programs you supported like Head Start and ADA.
