Matthew Costis' Obituary
Matthew Thomas Costis, born December 27, 1999, in Manassas, VA, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009, at his home in Warrenton, VA, surrounded by family and friends. Matthew fought a brave and valiant fight against brain cancer for more than a year.
He is survived by his parents, Tom and Priscilla Costis, and his sister Kaitlyn Costis, as well as his paternal grandparents, Bill and Cherry Costis, of Manassas, VA, his maternal grandparents, Adalberto and Graciela Gutierrez of Corpus Christi, TX, three uncles, two aunts, and a large extended family.
Matthew was a third grade student at C. M. Bradley School and loved playing soccer with his buddies for the Warrenton Youth Soccer League. One of Matthew’s favorite activities was taking trips to the Shenandoah Mountains with his family.
A memorial service will be conducted for Matthew on Saturday, July 25, 2009, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Manassas Baptist Church, 8800 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA. Dr. William T. Higgins will officiate at the service. A reception will be held at the Manasseh Lodge Masonic Temple, 9210 Cockrell Road, Manassas, VA, immediately following the memorial.
