Mary Olean Johnson Jenkins' Obituary
Mary Olean Johnson Jenkins “Granny”, age 83 of Culpeper, passed away Monday, July 28, 2008 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mary was born August 21, 1924 in Mecklenburg County, VA to the late William J. and Mary S. Johnson.
Mary, known as Granny to all, was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed needlecraft and flowers. She was always a hard worker, taking great pride in her home and yard. Mary was kind to everyone, loved being around children and enjoyed meeting people and making new friends.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Frances J. Dovel and her husband, Olen of Elkton and Barbara J. Webster of Culpeper; two grandchildren, Theresa G. Goodwin and her fiancé, Garry Setti of Culpeper and Charles D. Gochenour, Jr. of Culpeper; and one great-grandchild, Tiffany N. Gochenour of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include a sister-in-law, M. Frances Jenkins Stewart and her friend, Edward Ney of Harrisonburg, many special nieces and nephews, and her extended family at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jean W. Jenkins, seven brothers and six sisters.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 31, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Washington Masonic Cemetery in Washington, VA.
