Marylyn H. Sidle's Obituary
Marylyn H. Sidle, 91, of Culpeper, VA, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Culpeper Hospital. She was born on October 21, 1934, to the late J. Vance Hunt and Clara Gorr Hunt in Callicoon, NY.
Marylyn was born in Callicoon, NY, and followed in her father’s footsteps, working as a Linotype operator at the Sullivan County Democrat, the Callicoon, NY, newspaper. After marrying her husband, who served in the U.S. Navy, she was active in the Navy Wives Club. She served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts while her sons were involved and enjoyed many years of bowling with friends. Marylyn had a well-known fondness for anything strawberry, from patterned designs to the fruit itself, and will be remembered for her warmth, community spirit, and devotion to family.
Marylyn is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Roberta) Sidle of PA, Gregory (Joan) Sidle of Spotsylvania, and Stephen Sidle of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Lillie (Garrett) Hughes, Luke Sidle, Michael (Bailey) Sidle, and Morgan (Tres) Winkler; great grandchildren, Charles Rhen Winkler and Tyler Clarke Sidle; siblings, Robert (Virginia “Ginny”) Hunt, and Philip Blake “PB” (Mary Jo) Hunt; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Marylyn was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Richard Edwin Sidle.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, VA.
