Mary Edna Smoot Dennis' Obituary
Mary Edna Smoot Dennis, 76, of Castleton, died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Gainesville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 15, 1930 in Washington, VA to the late Harvey F. and Cecil Riley Smoot.
Mary was a very active member of Fellowship Assembly of God. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and spoiling her children and grandchildren. Mary was the world’s most good and faithful wife and will be missed.
She is survived by her devoted husband of fifty seven years, Warren Emerson Dennis, her daughters, Yvonne Sandra See of Wardensville, WV and Ruth Clarice Pugh and her husband, Bill of Fredericksburg, VA, two sisters, Mildred Riley, Peggy Parmley, and two brothers, Russell Smoot and Bunny Smoot
Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Ernest Jefferson See, Jr., Leslie Clarice See, Mary Helen Kropff, and Jesse Lennon Pugh, one great granddaughter, Lindsey Paige Russell, and one great grandson on the way.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold Smoot, Taylor Smoot, Raymond Smoot, and Harvey Smoot, Jr., and one granddaughter.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Joel Cress officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Pugh, Jeff See, Richard Dennis, Darryl Smoot, and Chuck Riley. Honorary pallbearers will be Simon Lewis and Leonard Parmley.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Fwy., Ste. 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
