Mary Campbell Ward's Obituary
Mary Campbell Ward, 85, of Culpeper passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was born June 12, 1928 in Springfield, MA.
Mrs. Ward worked as Coordinator for volunteers and candy stripers at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington, CT before her move to Culpeper where she worked admissions for Germanna Community College. After her retirement, she volunteered for the Culpeper Regional Hospital Auxiliary alongside her fellow Pink Ladies. She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church where she was active in the Share and Care ministry.
She is survived by her husband, Howard W. Ward, Jr.; four children, Howard Ward, III and his wife, Donna of Mount Airy, NC, Keith Ward and his wife, Linda of Boardman, OH, Lisa Schenck and her husband, David of Madison, and Aaron Ward of Madison; nine grandchildren, Stacey, Jonathan, Shannyn, Evan, Nathan, Taylor, Wesley, Pippin and Hayden; and four great grandchildren, Kayla, Caiden, Draven, Ledger ; and one great great grandchild, Grayson.
The family will hold a memorial service Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 2 pm at Hopewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Stan Mulford officiating. A one hour visitation will be held prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Share and Care at Hopewell United Methodist Church, 23557 Germanna Hwy, Lignum, VA 22726 &/or Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community, Employee Christmas Fund, 12425 Village Loop, Culpeper, VA 22701.
