Mary Christine Sanders' Obituary
Mrs. Mary C. Sanders, 68, of Spotsylvania County, passed away Friday morning March 3, 2023.
Mary was born on July 31, 1954 in Newfoundland Canada. She was adopted by Hugh and Mary Rominger and brought to America where she was raised in Arlington, VA. When Mary was 25, she moved to Fredericksburg, VA. Where she met her husband Olin “Dave” Sanders. They settled in Spotsylvania where they raised their children Hugh & Toni. After being a stay-at-home mom for many years, Mary went back to school where she received many certifications at Germanna Community College. She went on to volunteer at Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assault as a strong leader with administrative rolls to help the community as an advocate for assault victims. She was very passionate about the work she did there and helped many people through hard times.
Mary retired early and hit the road in an RV with her husband. She enjoyed traveling, boating, and fishing. She loved spending time with her family and settled back down in Spotsylvania, VA after many years of traveling to be closer to her grandchildren. She was a constant presence in their life and upbringing. Mary has always been a wonderful person and very loved for all the things she has ever been a part of throughout her life.
Mary is survived by her husband Olin Sanders; her children, Hugh Beirne and Toni Kelley; and grandchildren, Riley, Jayden, Keira, Gabriel and Cameron.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA.
