Mary Alice Myers' Obituary
Mary Alice Myers, 82, of Culpeper died Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 30, 1938 in Charles Town, WV to the late Clyde and Mable Barfield Hitt.
Mary was a member of Culpeper Presbyterian Church, a choir member and participated in the women’s circle group. She had a passion for family and loved weekend camping at Christopher Run Campground. She enjoyed walking and bike riding, loved walking “Baby” and taking care of many pets before her. Mary liked helping keep this world clean by picking up trash when out and about.
Mary had 33 years of service at Sycamore Park Elementary School as a para educator and was dedicated to the education of the children of Culpeper County.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Hensel Byron Myers; two sons, Paul Myers and wife, Stacey Myers and David Myers and his wife, Patricia Woody Myers; grandchildren, Jessica (Jevon) Pomerleau, Joshua (Jazz) Myers, Katie Schaub, Alisa Myers and Grey Myers; great-granddaughter, Annabelle Pomerleau. Also surviving Mary are her brothers, Clyde (Donna) Hitt and Bill (Nancy) Hitt and other family relatives and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Hitt and her Aunt Frances ”Hankie” Barfield.
A graveside service will be held at Culpeper National Cemetery (New Section), 501 E. Chandler St., Culpeper, VA at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 with Pastor Joseph Taber, IV officiating.
