Think of life and love and laughter,
Of warm smiles and gentle grace.
Think of a lover, wife and mother;
remember the joy she laid in place.
Think of times gone by with unceasing wonder,
of trials overcome and obstacles climbed.
Think of the daughter, the friend, the sister,
and remember the strength she left behind.
Remember the love and memories shared;
remember the warmth in careworn eyes.
Remember that she's passed but still here
in the hearts of many that never die.
We live on with a stalwart hope,
not forgetting the one bright ember.
And most of all think on this,
Let us remember to always remember.
It has been a joy and a challenge taking care of Grammy. I always told her she had a beautiful smile and her face would light up and she would ask me ‘Really’. It was a smile that could light up a room, though I have seen many smiles from Grammy. Some reminded me of a mischievous child and you couldn’t help but smile back. She loved giving kisses and sometimes Karen and I would take turns stealing them and she would laugh and of course, smile. I take comfort in knowing that she is still smiling, still laughing, and now she is dancing as well. I will never forget what Grammy has meant to me, she was my Grammy and I will miss her.
