Mary Josephine McAninch's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Josephine Horne McAninch on October 22, 2025. Born on August 3, 1940, to Charles and Margaret Horne, Mary lived a life defined by strength, love, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Her most important role was that of a mother. She poured her heart into raising her three children, Glenn, Terry, and Brian. She was a solid and constant presence in their lives, instilling in them the values of hard work and family.
Mary’s home was the heart of the family. She delighted in hosting large gatherings, filling her home with food, joy, and the people she loved most. Her fruitcake was always a highlight. She loved to sing and had a great memory for the lyrics. Her annual rendition of happy birthday will be missed. For many years, Mary served the Richmond community as a postal carrier, a job she performed with reliability and pride.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Glenn McAninch and his wife, Kathy; her daughter, Terry Kelly and her husband, Mike Branscum; and her cherished grandchildren: Ryan, Kimberly, Carl, Emily, and Oliver. She is also survived by her brothers, James Horne, and Kenneth Horne and his wife Peggy, and sister-in-law, Betty Horne and her many nieces and nephews.
Mary is now reunited with those who passed before her, including her parents and her dear son, Brian McAninch; her sisters, Margaret Runyan and Jean Hart; and brother Richard Horne.
Her strong will and loving nature will be deeply missed.
