Mary Lee Lane's Obituary
Mary Lee Lane, 74, of Culpeper went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 12, 1942 in Culpeper to the late James and Lillian Brown Newman.
Mary Lee was a member of the Piedmont Chapter 234; Order of the Eastern Star, Magnus Court #100; Daughters of ISIS, Antioch Baptist Church missionaries and senior choir, Culpeper Branch NAACP and Culpeper Democratic Committee. She was Assistant Register for Culpeper voting poles and was Den Mother for Culpeper Cub Scouts Den 836. Mrs. Lane enjoyed traveling, sitting on her front porch, watching old western movies and wrestling, singing, dancing and cooking. She especially enjoyed vacationing with her family primarily with her grand and great grandchildren where she exposed them to the simple pleasures of life in this beautiful world the Lord has provided to us to care for.
She is survived by seven children, Ronnie Lane, Sr. of Culpeper, Dollie Jackson and her husband, Perry of Culpeper, Charles R. Lane, Jr. and Tjuan of Culpeper, Cindy Lane of MD, Elizabeth Lane of Locust Grove, Edward Lane of Eagle Butte, SD and Hugh Lane and his wife, Myra of Culpeper; and 17 grandchildren, Tameka Lane, Randy Lane, Jr., Eric Cline and his wife, Stephanie, Daniella Macias, Ronnie Lane, Jr. and his wife, Sauntrada, Chanelle Sharper and her husband, Markus, Adam Lane, Charles Lane, III, Corven Jones, Terry Jackson and his wife, Lauvita, Walter Long, III and his wife, Tiffany, Mary Jackson, Barbara Jackson, Emily Lane, Jaylyn Hinton, Michael and Matthias Omonkhomon.
Additional survivors include 11 siblings, James Newman of CA, Charles Newman of Culpeper, George Newman of GA, Christine Hackley of Culpeper, Dorothy Davis of Culpeper, Hazel Newman of Culpeper, Brenda Newman of Culpeper, Josephine Minor of Culpeper, Helen Ford and her husband, Dana of Culpeper, Catherine Drumgoole and her husband, Wesley of Culpeper, and Ruby Bannister and her husband, Charles of Culpeper; her in-laws, Johnson and Edna Lane and Thelma Lane; and Goddaughter, Sharon Wise.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Lane, Sr.; two children, Randy Lane, Sr. and Bessie Lane Dores; one great granddaughter, Charlie Sangel Lane; three siblings, Shirley Newman, Grace Newman and Terry Newman; one son-in-law, Jesse Dores; and one daughter-in-law, Miriam Lane.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. Antioch Baptist Church, 202 S. West St., Culpeper with Rev. Dr. Milton L. Branch, Sr. officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Scott, Carey Cooper, Travis Cooper, Thunder Lane, Steve Scott and Dwayne Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is serving the family.
