Mary Elisabeth Hudson Revercomb's Obituary
Mary Elisabeth Hudson Revercomb, 94, of Peola Mills, Virginia and a former resident of Arlington, Virginia, died of complications at University of Virginia Culpeper Hospital on February 27, 2019.
Mrs. Revercomb was born in Saline County, near Marshall, Missouri and moved to Arlington in 1946 to begin her teaching career. In 1943, during World War II, she started college at Missouri Valley and George Peabody College for Teachers at Vanderbilt University, culminating her education with a Masters’ Degree.
In the mid-1940’s, her close college friend, Evelyn Ferguson, invited her to live in Arlington, Virginia where she began a teaching job for Arlington County Schools. She remained there as an educator for over 40 years, enriching the minds of her students and developing relationships and friendships which have endured until the day of her passing.
In the late 1980’s, she retired with her husband, L. Nelson Revercomb to Rappahannock County, Virginia, where she was active in the local garden club, The Daughters of the American Revolution, and F.T. Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Virginia “Ginger” Revercomb Del Pozzo, a Son-In-Law, Dominic Del Pozzo, two beloved grandsons, Nicolas and Lucas Del Pozzo, all of Montgomery County, Maryland, and a son, Randall Hudson Revercomb of Falls Church, Virginia.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 2 PM at F.T. Baptist Church, 3143 Slate Mills Road, Sperryville, Virginia 22740. Burial will take place after the church service at the Revercomb family cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors, any veterans’ support organization, or College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, Missouri.
