Mary Viola Hill's Obituary
Mary Viola Hill (nee Garten), 88, of Manteo, North Carolina passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Colony Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Nags Head, North Carolina.
She was born in Alexandria, Virginia to the late Ola Ezra Garten and Mary Elizabeth Garten (nee Williams).
Mary was a member of Roanoke Island Baptist Church, was active with the VFW in Nags Head and the Ladies of the Moose in Alexandria, Virginia.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Thomas Roland of Thornburg and Walter Saffell of Manteo; her daughter, Patricia Wylds of Augusta, Georgia; and her sister, Evelyn Ford, of Fort Valley, VIrginia; and also left to cherish her memory are her 18 grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by first husband, Melvin Blake Foster; her second husband, Hoyt Hill; three sisters, Emma Craft, Mettie Elliott and May Tabler; her brothers, Francis (Buck) Garten and Dorsey P. Garten and a daughter, MaryAnne Ondrejko.
Mary’s family will receive friends Friday, April 6, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, with the funeral service beginning at 8:00 p.m. Interment will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 in National Memorial Park, Falls Church, Virginia.
