Mary Kathryn Garber's Obituary
Mary Kathryn “Kitty” Rosenberger Garber, 86, of Jeffersonton passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Fauquier Hospital. She was born at home in Jeffersonton on March 2, 1928 to the late Cecil Dewey and Hannah Miriam Margaret Payne Rosenberger.
Mrs. Garber was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. She graduated from Washington & Lee High School in Arlington and had attended Westhampton College of the University of Richmond. She was past president of the Culpeper Woman’s Club and former president of the Homemakers Club of Culpeper. She was also involved in the Republican Woman’s Club and was one of the founders of the Fairfax Woman’s Club. Mrs. Garber was a loving mother and homemaker having raised three wonderful boys.
She is survived by her husband, John H. Garber, Jr.; three sons, John H. “Jack” Garber, III and his wife, Wendy Swenson of Jeffersonton, Donald Payne Garber and his wife, Lisa of Hampton and Charles David “Chip” Garber and his wife, Wendy Clements Garber of Fairfax; two siblings, John Dewey “Jack” Rosenberger and Nancy Sue Ritchie and her husband, William.
Additional survivors include her seven grandchildren, Gwynneth Schell and her husband, Peter, Benjamin, Aubree, Rebecca, Joshua, Daniel and Erin; and two great grandchildren, Moseley and Wallace Schell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Muse Rosenberger.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 2 pm at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 115 N East St., Culpeper, VA with Rev. Michael Grey and Rev. Grace L. Cangialosi officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Culpeper Food Closet, PO Box 343, Culpeper, VA 22701.
