Mary Emilie Flynn Reid's Obituary
Mary Emilie Flynn Reid, 84, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at her residence in Washington, VA after a short illness.
Mary was born June 30, 1933 in Percy, Quebec to the late Peter and Elise Wall Flynn. In 1953 she moved to America and became a citizen.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was the foundation of her family. Gentle, loving, kind, a woman of God, who read her bible every morning, and prayed for her family daily.
She always had a smile on her face, and a skip in her step. She had an infectious zest for living, she was not only a mom but best friends to her daughters, and was respected and cherished by all who had the chance to know her.
She was a founding member of Open Door Baptist Church, where she worshiped every Sunday. She lived her life everyday loving the Lord, and taught the word of God to everyone she met by living example.
She is survived by her daughters; Audrey Regnery and her husband Alfred of Washington, VA, Beverly Shepherd and her husband, Paul of Madison, VA, Alane Walsh and her husband Thomas of Pittston, ME, Step-Daughter Anna Lee Goodall and her husband, John of Hobbs, NM, Step-son Randall Reid, Upland Ca., her grandchildren; Christopher John Field, Stephen Allen Field and his wife, Brandi, Kimberly Dawn Shepherd, and Jenny Shepherd, step-grandchildren Mary Deanna Newsome and Dustin Lasater, Danny Reid and Carley Reid of Upland Ca., great grandchildren; C.J. Field, Nicholas Hovey, Madison Field, Allison Field, Dale Field, and Hollis Gaven Dow, and one great- great grandchild, Hayden Graham Dow.
Mary is also survived by her siblings; Muriel, Neil, Vida, Shirley, and Loreen, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband Col. Robert D. Reid, her brothers; Nelson and Terry; and sister, Idola.
On December 16th, 2017 the family will receive guests from 10:00am to 11:00am at Open Door Baptist Church, 754 Germanna Highway, Culpeper, Va 22701, immediately following a celebration of life will be held with Pastor Bernie Jernigan officiating.
Inurnment will be private.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Hospice of the Piedmont for the loving care that was given to Mary Reid and her family during her illness.
