Mary Catherine Elstner's Obituary
Mary Catherine Elstner, age 90, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, May 12, at Falls Run Nursing Home.
Mary Catherine Garrett grew up in South Carolina. Her husband’s Marine Corps career afforded them and their three children the opportunity to reside throughout the country. When she was not serving as a Red Cross aide in schools, she was sharing her artistic talent with the community.
After retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively overseas, including trips to Egypt, Russia, and China.
Mary Catherine was predeceased by Lt. Col. Earl Thomas Elstner and their son John Garrett Elstner. She is survived by son Dr. E. Thomas Elstner, Jr., daughter Deborah Ann Benz, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
There will be a private Catholic service for Mrs. Elstner, followed by burial next to her husband in Quantico National Cemetery.
