Mary Lewis Carver's Obituary
Mary Lewis Carver of Culpeper passed away peacefully surrounded by family at NOVANT Health UVA Health System Culpeper Medical Center. She was born March 2, 1927 in Elkton, VA to the late Dovel and Lillian Dearing Lewis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Bailey Scott Carver; five brothers and one sister.
She is survived by two children, Michael (Yvonne) Carver of Culpeper, and Linda (Val) Simoncic of Leland, NC; two siblings, James Lewis and Peggy Lewis; five grandchildren, Gary Carver (Debby), Cindy Dewyea (Kirk), Linda Gillespie (Matt), Sara Dorwart (Tom) and Kelly George (LtCol Mark); nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild arriving in July.
Mary was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Warrenton where she was a member of the Alter Guild, quilting ministry and her crafting skills were instrumental to the success of the annual craft show. She enjoyed monthly celebrations with the “Lunch Bunch’ and delighted in sharing her cooking and baking skills with friends, family and loved ones. She set the bar high with her award winning pies!
Services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 10 a.m. at The Culpeper, 12425 Village Loop, Culpeper, VA with Hans Murdock officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
A private interment will be held at Quantico National Cemetery with Rev. Ron Young officiating.
