Mary Ellen Agee-LeFever's Obituary
Mary Ellen Agee LeFever, 80, of Spotsylvania County, passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. Mary was born to the late James “Jim” and Nora Agee on January 5,1944 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Mary is survived by her husband of 30 years, William “Bill” Francis LeFever; her children, Elvis Michael Balla, Catherine Reneé and son-in-law Travis Kantz, Charles Wendell Balla; Service-Dog Bubba “Odo” Balla, and Audra Lea Stewart; grandchildren, Megan Reneé Kantz, Cleo Madison Kantz-Schultz, Xavier Balla, and Adrianna Nicole Bryan; great-grandchildren, Orion Bennett, Evelyn Theodora, and August Landry. Mary is also survived by her step-children, Joel and Joyce LeFever of Pittsburg, PA and their three children, William, Daniel, and Elizabeth, and by Grace LeFever of Charlottesville, VA.
She was fierce in her love for the Lord Jesus Christ as she served Him every day of her life. She now rests in His loving arms in heaven. She embodied faith in Jesus Christ and brought any soul to Jesus that she could. Forgiveness marks the cornerstone of Mary’s walk with the Lord; she embodied it in her life through her love of people; Mary was known as the “neighborhood” mother, touching those who knew her. She was a Shepard in her own right. She has earned her crown jewels in eternal life.
Bill and Mary met in 1960 via church meetings and continued by correspondence. Later in life, they reunited and started a life together as husband and wife on May 7, 1994, and they “lived a happy life together” for 30-years. Bill revered Mary as his devoted partner and buddy. They went on many trips together in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Later, they often enjoyed the Farmers Market in Mineral, VA.
She raised four children. During that time, she made a home, provided teaching in the Lord, taught home-school education, sewed clothes, curtains, blankets and more! She loved to mow grass and she never missed her children’s baseball or softball games, or swim meets, and she was always there for her children when tests had to be studied for, certification exams needed support, volunteer events needed helpers, and let us not forget potlucks and large family get togethers! She loved a good family get-together where a time of singing with her soprano voice would overjoy you. These times of her matriarch participation will surely be missed.
Mary’s high school education was completed to 10th grade. She went on to pursue a trade in business. She later attended Washington Business School. She continued her education through avid reading and attending conferences. Mary learned the soft and hard skills of business which she carried into a successful career.
She worked in the administrative office of the East Handley Middle School and later at the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Eventually she pursued a career in insurance and earned a license as an Insurance Agent.
Mary was an animal lover. Bella-Belle, her beloved Shih Tzu, provided friendship, comfort, and love to her. Every stray would come to her for shelter.
There’s just so many wonderful things to say about Mary to list them all, but one last characteristic to highlight is; she never gave up on her family, for any reason, good or bad, until the moment she passed. She always wanted the family to spend time together, despite any differences…she got her wish.
