Martin "Oogie" Smarr's Obituary
Martin “Oogie” Smarr passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, with his wife by his side. He was 77 years old.
Martin was born on July 28, 1948, in Alexandria, Virginia, the youngest of six children. He grew up in Fairfax County, Virginia, surrounded by family, forming the strong roots and values that would guide him throughout his life.
A proud veteran, Martin served his country during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star in recognition of his bravery and dedication. After returning home, he continued his pursuit of education, completing his studies at Ben Franklin University, now known as The George Washington University.
Martin built a long and steady career with CVS Pharmacy, formerly People's Drug, where he worked for over 30 years before retiring in 2008. He was known for his reliability and kindness, qualities that earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his sons, Allen and Kevin; his daughter, Tarren; their spouses; as well as his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2026 in Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA 22172.
