Marjorie Elizabeth Domazet's Obituary
Marjorie Elizabeth Payne Domazet, a devout Christian and loving wife, passed away on March 4, 2026, at UVA Health University Medical Center in Charlottesville at the age of 97 following complications of Alzheimer's disease.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph T. Domazet, Jr., her parents, Aaron J. Payne and Jessie Mae Payne, her brother, Carroll James Payne, and close personal friend, Kenneth R. Henard.
She is survived by her niece, Dr. Melissa Anne Payne of Delaware, Ohio, and cousins, Luther Taylor of Culpeper, Va., Gatewood Taylor of Vienna, Va., Clarke Taylor of Culpeper, Va. and Leslie Taylor of Shavertown, PA., Ronnie Johnson of Culpeper, VA, Jean Nash Hunsberger of Lake of the Woods, VA., Harold T. Brown of Lovettsville VA, David W.M. Brown of Culpeper, Va.
She was born November 1, 1928, in Washington, D.C. and raised in Arlington, VA, and Culpeper, where she graduated from high school and worked as a secretary for the 2nd National Bank of Culpeper. After moving with her husband to Falls Church, Va., she worked as a secretary for Fairfax Water Authority. She moved her membership from Culpeper Baptist Church to Glencarlyn Road Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess. Later, she became a member of First Baptist Church in Alexandria, Va. She was a lady of boundless energy, beaming love from within, always having a gentle touch, and spreading kindness wherever she went. In her later years, she received loving care from her neighbors, Susan Fischer and Lois Scherbenske, caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care of Annandale, VA, and caregivers from The Culpeper.
A celebration of life will be held from Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, located at 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with interment to follow in Culpeper at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving the family will be Mark Taylor, Daniel Taylor, Tim Gummer, Gatewood Taylor, Jr. and Christopher Taylor.
