Marietta "Tootie" Dodson's Obituary
Marietta “Tootie” Dodson, 76, of Culpeper, VA died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 26, 1941 in Charlottesville, VA to the late Kelsie and Elva Weakley Nicholson.
Tootie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin, neighbor, and friend. She was a hard worker and enjoyed being out in her yard making it look like something out of a magazine. She lived life on her terms and her strong will and independent nature were inspirations for many who knew her. Her kind spirit was spread to anyone she ran across and she would always share a smile, a kind word, or a long chat with those she met. Her family meant the world to her and she cherished every moment. The love she had for others was a true testament of the genuineness she possessed. Her daily life was led by her strong faith in God and her dedication to her beliefs and morals were second to none. She was truly a person that was loved by others and has touched so many lives. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two children, Dennis Dodson, and Diane Martin and her husband, Lyle; three siblings, Connie Roden and her husband, George, Scott Nicholson, Sr. and his wife, Jeanette, and Becky Foltz and her husband, Steve; three grandchildren, Sarah Furrow and her husband, Josh, Suzan Dodson, and Haley Martin; and one great granddaughter, Hannah Furrow.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Odell Dodson; and one sister, Mary Alice Nicholson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 6328 Hoover Rd., Reva, VA with Pastor Adam Meisberger officiating.
Interment will follow in Etlan Cemetery.
