Margie Southard's Obituary
Margie Jane Southard, 61, of Huntly, VA, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026 at her residence. She was born September 10, 1964, to the late Richard Lea Menefee and Jean Margie Jenkins Menefee.
Margie found her greatest peace and joy in the beauty of her flower gardens, where every blossom reflected her patience, care, and gentle spirit. She took immense pride in these gardens, nurturing them with the same love she gave so freely to those around her. Among her many treasured traditions, none meant more to her than hosting Thanksgiving dinner. It was her proudest occasion each year—a time when her home was filled with the warmth of family, the aroma of a lovingly prepared meal, and the laughter that meant everything to her.
Margie’s heart truly belonged to her calling as a teacher. She had a natural gift with children and found deep fulfillment in shaping young minds and encouraging their growth. Her kindness, patience, and unwavering dedication left a lasting impression on every student fortunate enough to pass through her classroom. To Margie, teaching was never just a profession—it was a passion and a reflection of her nurturing soul.
In her quiet moments, Margie found simple joy in watching Hallmark movies, delighting in their heartfelt stories and happy endings. These peaceful times mirrored her own outlook on life—one rooted in love, hope, and the importance of cherishing each moment.
Margie is survived by her husband of 39 years, William Southard; son, Willie Southard; brothers, Carl Menefee and David Menefee; sister, Peggy Smoot; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Margie is preceded in death by her Mama, Bertie Pullen, and a special uncle, Robert Pullen.
A funeral service will be on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA, with Pastor Carl Menefee officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
