Margie Ruth Raper's Obituary
Margie Ruth Raper, 92, of Fredericksburg passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 from congestive heart failure at the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law for more than 18 years. She had been under home hospice care since November.
Mrs. Raper was originally from Phenix City, Alabama and has lived in Japan, New Jersey, California, Maryland and Florida as a Navy spouse before she moved permanently to Virginia in 1996. She enjoyed her family and friends and was comforted in her final months by her almost constant companion, the beloved family cat, Blackjack.
Mrs. Raper is survived by her children, Charles W. Raper, Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, Sandra K. Junkins and her husband, Lawrence, and Birdie J. Martinez; her adopted son, also named Charles W. Raper; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Raper, Sr.; a daughter, Beverly M. Spivey; three brothers; and one sister.
Ms. Raper’s family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at Riverside Memorial Park, Jacksonville, Florida.
