Margaret Poyntz O'Donoghue's Obituary
Margaret (Peggy) Poyntz O’Donoghue, age 68, of Woodville, VA died at home on Sunday, September 30, 2012 after a long illness. Born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, Peggy was the daughter of the late Chenoweth and Margaret Cowan Poyntz.
Peggy spent 36 years in Arlington after her marriage and moved to Woodville two years ago. A long time weekender (30 years) she grew to love Rappahannock and Red Oak Mountain where she built a cabin with a view of the Blue Ridge and Thornton Gap. Several years ago, when she was diagnosed with a terminal illness, she expressed her longing to daily see the mountains and sunsets she had grown to love. In due course she moved to Mountain View in Woodville to enjoy them both.
She is survived by her husband, Ross O’Donoghue of Woodville, and her two sons, Frederick McGuire Hamilton of San Jose, CA and Eugene Munger Hamilton of Morrison, CO, two sisters, Katharine Poyntz Nicrosi of Montgomery, AL and Charlotte Poyntz Brinson of Mobile, AL, as well as two grandsons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick McGuire Hamilton.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one’s local hospice or to the charity of one’s choice.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is handling the arrangements.
