Margaret Allison Courtney's Obituary
Margaret Allison Courtney, 96 of Farnham, Virginia, previously of Stafford County, Virginia, passed peacefully October 26, 2023.
She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She devoted a lot of her early years working at Leggett’s in Fredericksburg, Virginia before stepping out on her own as the owner of Courtney’s Decorating Gallery. Many long nights were spent creating beautiful custom draperies and other window treatments.
Margaret is survived by her sons, John Richard Courtney Jr. (Sherry) and Jerry Wayne Courtney (Lisa); son-in-law, Albert (Butch) Lee DeJean Jr.; grandchildren, Christopher Courtney, Joni Shortt, Lauren Hudson, Daurne’ Gilmartin and Albert (Lee) DeJean III; nine great-grandchildren with one more on the way!
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard Courtney; and daughter, Nancy Carol DeJean.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023 in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3702 Loren Drive, Fredericksburg, VA 22408.
The family would like to thank the staff at Commonwealth Assisted Living Facility in Farnham for taking great care of her during her last years and also for all the kind words and stories you shared with us about her while she was a resident. We also want to thank Hospice of Virginia/Tappahannock for their care during her last few months.
