Margaret June Bennett's Obituary
Margaret June Bennett, 88, of Culpeper died Friday, December 9, 2016 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born June 7, 1928 in Alexandria to the late Martin and Ruby Enoch Bennett.
She is survived by one brother, James Bennett of Spotsylvania; two sisters-in-law, Betty Bennett of Culpeper and Janet Bennett of Hagerstown, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended loved ones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde R. Bennett and Louis M. Bennett; one sister-in-law, Joyce Bennett; and one nephew, Jimmy Bennett.
Margaret began working for the State Department straight out of high school. Her career enabled her to travel the world, visiting over 30 counties along the way. Once she retired from the government, she then worked for a doctor’s office and finally a law firm in Northern Virginia before retiring again, for the last time.
Margaret never married, but rather spent her free time traveling, visiting museums, frequenting the theater, and reading, reading, reading! She loved to share her passion for literature and the arts with family and friends.
Margaret spent over 75 years calling Alexandria her home until relocating to Culpeper, Virginia in 2003. She was a parishioner of Precious Blood Catholic Church and a member of a neighborhood book club, both of which brought her great joy and lasting friendships. She loved her family and friends, but above all she loved Jesus. Margaret will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. She is at peace and her new home is Heaven.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 114 E. Edmondson St., Culpeper, VA with Fr. Mark Moretti officiating.
Interment will follow in National Memorial Park in Falls Church.
Pallbearers serving will be her family and church family.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is serving the family.
