Maggie Deal Rector's Obituary
Maggie Deal Rector, 90, of Culpeper passed away on August 7, 2006 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. She was born on September 28, 1915 in Rappahannock County to the late William Oscar “Grit” and Hattie Settle Deal. Her family moved to Boston in 1921. She was married to Robert Mason Rector in 1941 and lived her entire adult life on First Street in Culpeper.
Maggie was a lifelong member of Culpeper Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Homemakers Extension Club and volunteered for many years with the Hospital Auxiliary. She was a sweet and gentle lady who loved her family and friends. She enjoyed socializing on the telephone and sharing her talents of cooking and sewing with everyone.
She is survived by a sister, Elsie Deal Cline of Rochester, WA, her brothers, Earl E. Deal and his wife, Maria of El Paso, TX, Carroll T. Deal and his wife, Ann, Donald K. Deal and his wife, Alice all of Boston, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mason Rector, and a brother, Oscar Jackson Deal.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 10, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Culpeper Baptist Church on West St. with the Rev. Ted Fuson and the Rev. John Farrar officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Otis Lee Burke, Rob Deal, Alan Bittmann, William “Red” Jenkins, Paul Karnes, and Earl Jewell. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Deal and Jerry McIntyre.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of flowers or donations may be made in her name to the Culpeper Baptist Church, Expansion Fund, 318 S. West St., Culpeper, VA 22701.
