Madeline T. Fogarty's Obituary
It is with a profound sense of loss that our family announces the passing of Madeline Taylor Fogarty, (Maggie) of Culpeper died Friday, June 19, 2009 at her residence surrounded by family, Maggie passed away at the age of 87. She was born February 19, 1922 in Culpeper to the late James William and Rachel Frances Fincham Taylor.
Ms. Fogarty retired from the A&P Company after 32 years of service. Ms Fogarty was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Culpeper as well as the Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary of Fredericksburg. Maggie took great pride in her ability to, crochet, word search puzzles, watching FOX News, fishing and above all loved and cherished her family second only to her family, was to travel, she delighted in traveling the world by land, sea and air.
She is survived by her children, Charlie B. Hitt, Jimmy T. Hitt and his wife, Bonnie, Tammy Combs, Diane Tillis, Rosanne Fogarty and Jim Fogarty and his wife, Sherry, three sisters, Lorraine Kaufman, Ann Moran and her husband, Harry, Faye Shaw and her husband, Sonny, one brother, Victor Taylor and his wife, Carolyn, Maggie was a proud and loving grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon E. “Pat” Fogarty, two brothers, John Conrad “Blue” Taylor and James Clifton “Click” Taylor, two grandson, Charlie “Chip” Hitt, Jr, Jordan Fogarty and daughter-in-law, Peggy Hitt.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor John Grotz and Rev. Sharon Forbes officiating.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and Carveth Gooch.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Family Care Home, Health and Hospice Care or Culpeper Rescue Squad in her memory
