Madeline C. Lake's Obituary
Madeline J. Lake, 94, of Elkwood, died July 1, 2011 at the Amerisist Assisted Living in Culpeper.
She was born on March 16, 1917 in Calverton, to the late Josephine Cassell Cowne and Thomas Cowne.
Ms. Lake was a member of the Hopewell Methodist Church and the Auxiliary to the Brandy Station Vol. Fire Department.
Survivors include one daughter, Ada Marie Noakes of Bedford and one son, Ludwell “Bud” Lake of Placitas, New Mexico, 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Nina Griffin, of Leesburg, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband H. Frank Lake and her daughter Joanne Leathers of Elkwood.
The family will receive friends from 6-8p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Stan Mulford officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Brandy Station Vol. Fire Department and/or the Richardsville Vol. Rescue Squad.
The family thanks the staff at Amerisist Assisted Living in Culpeper for the compassionate care over the past years.
