Luther Amos Stanley, Sr.'s Obituary
Luther Amos Stanley, Sr., 77, of Culpeper died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at his residence. He was born December 9, 1930 in Rixeyville to the late Thomas Stanley and Rosie Dodson Stanley.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Peggy Joyce Stanley, three children, Luther A. Stanley, Jr. and his wife, Peggy of Sperryville, Brenda Gourdine and her husband, Douglas of Locust Grove, and Donnie Stanley and his wife, Debbie of Fredericksburg,
Additional survivors include eight siblings, Charlie Stanley, Henry Stanley, Sam Stanley, Pearl Juiffre, Gertrude Fincham, Shirley Knighting, Stella Collier, Barbara Tharpe, nine grandchildren, Douglas Gourdine, Jr., Chris Stanley, Sr., Todd Stanley, Kareem Gourdine, Keisha Gourdine, Jason Stanley, Tiffany Jenkins, Jennifer Smith, and Chad McWhirt and 20 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Daisy Bailey.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 8, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 12 p.m. at Sumerduck Baptist Church with Rev. Pete Sites and Rev. Henry Stanley officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Chad McWhirt, Kareem Gourdine, Jason Stanley, Fred Medlin, Kenny Brooks, Kenny Soutter, John Hitt and Bo Cole.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Mary Washington Hospital Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
