Lucy Brown Creel's Obituary
Lucy Brown Creel went to her eternal rest on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. She was born June 20, 1924 to Atha Lewis and Esther Virginia Brown of Rappahannock County.
Lucy graduated from Sperryville High School in 1943 and in 1945 married John Perry Creel of Culpeper. She was a faithful member of the Woodland United Methodist Church for many years, having served as Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, membership and corresponding secretary, and singing in the choir. Lucy loved her roses, crocheting, was known for her carrot and orange coconut cakes, and was affectionately known as “Second Mom” by many.
She is survived by her children, Wayne Gordon Creel and his wife, Doris, Gloria Creel Phillips and her husband, Aubrey, and Perry Lewis Creel and his wife, JoAnn, all of Culpeper. She is also survived by her grandson, Andrew Brian Lohr and his wife, Meredith of Spotsylvania; granddaughter, Julie Anne Lohr of Aroda; great grandchildren, Emma Michelle Lohr, Olivia Rose Lohr and Russell Andrew Lohr; a number of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and a number of nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, John; her son, John Calvin Creel; two brothers, Floyd Brown and Richard Brown; three sisters, Beulah Armentrout, Katherine Wayland, and Lucille Corbin; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Creel.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Denise Vogt and Rev. Kang Lee conducting the service.
Interment will follow in Woodland United Methodist Church Cemetery.
A reception will be held immediately following the burial in the Culpeper United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
