Lucia Lowell Batchelor's Obituary
Lucia “Lowell” Batchelor, 82, of Fredericksburg passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025 at home with her loving husband of 62 years by her side.
Lucia was born September 21, 1943 in Manhattan, NY to Joseph R. McLaughlin and Margaret L. McLaughlin.
While Lowell had several jobs as an adult, her primary role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was her lifelong passion which she enthusiastically pursued sacrificially. She also loved her dogs, and never met a stranger in public, especially if she saw them with dogs or young children. She’d love to hear their stories and proudly share her own. She also was active, from the day it began for more than 40 years, in the Hope Presbyterian Church (formerly Spotsylvania Presbyterian) of Fredericksburg, VA with profoundly fond memories of Wednesday night dinners and small groups.
In addition to her husband, Davis F. Batchelor of Fredericksburg, she is survived by three sons Doug (Lupe) Batchelor, of Wallace, NC, Donnie (Stacie) Batchelor, of Fredericksburg, and Russ (Christine) Batchelor, of Fredericksburg; nine grandchildren Juan (Sarah) Garcia of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Rachel (Cory) Hansel of Fredericksburg; Mike (Chaslyn) Batchelor of Belcamp MD; Steven (Shelly) Batchelor of Sykesville, MD, Becky Batchelor of Lake Wylie, SC; Ryan (Meghan) Batchelor of Lancaster, SC, Blake Batchelor of Fredericksburg; Hannah Batchelor of Fredericksburg; and Sarah Batchelor of Fredericksburg; and 8 great grandchildren. (Daniel, Emma; Charlotte, Cameron; Micalyn, Jordan; Emma Belle; and Elliot.)
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Raymond McLaughlin, Jr. of Knotts Island, NC.
We would like to thank the numerous lifelong friends that we consider family for all of your years of love and friendship.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Hope Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at our family cemetery (Jeff Lanier Cemetery) at 1:00 PM, Saturday November 15, 2025 in Lyman, NC.
In lieu of flowers, Lowell would have loved that any memorial donations be made to your favorite dog/pet rescue organization.
