Louis Neil Mairs, Sr.'s Obituary
Louis Neil Mairs, Sr., 91, of Culpeper died on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born on March 25, 1918 in Avon, NY to the late Walter Mairs and Marion Little Mairs.
Mr. Mairs graduated in 1942 from Cortland State University in New York where he was a brother of the Beta Phi Epsilon fraternity. He played varsity soccer and was team captain and MVP his senior year. Mr. Mairs served his country in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. He was very proud of his years to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Ridgefield, CT where he served as an alderman and member of various committees. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed reading and loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Sharon Mairs and her partner, Jeff Orr of Avon, NY and Louis Neil Mairs, Jr. and his wife, Kathleen of Culpeper, one brother, Jim Mairs of Tangerine, FL, one sister, Evelyn Taylor of Caledonia, NY and two grandchildren, Louis Mairs, III and Colleen Mairs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Mairs and two brothers, Don and Bill Mairs.
Services will be private.
