Louis "Lou" Harron Cordle's Obituary
Louis “Lou” Harron Cordle, 56, of Sperryville died peacefully Wednesday, 06 October 2010 at his home in Alexandria VA. He was surrounded by those who loved him.
Louis was born 25 June 1954 in Norfolk VA to William Harold Cordle, Sr. and Eleanor Marie Morrow Cordle. He is survived by his wife, Ann Hassman Cordle; sister Harriet Faye Keenan of Yorktown VA; brother David M. Cordle (Charla) of Charles City VA; father-in-law Robert F. Hassman of Missoula MT; sister-in-law Valerie C. Hassman (D. Jeffry Hill) of Missoula MT and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers William H. Cordle, Jr. and Thomas P. W. Cordle.
Louis graduated from Rappahannock County High School and attended Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown VA. He entered the United States Air Force where he was a Non-Commissioned Officer and retired after 22 years with rank of Master Sergeant. He traveled the world during his Air Force career and was posted to Langley AFB, Virginia; Bitburg Air Base, Germany; King Salmon Air Station, Alaska; Eglin AFB, Florida; RAF - Mildenhall, England; RAF - Lakenheath, England and other temporary duty locations. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Louis found his life’s calling in helping others work their way back to full health through physical therapy. Louis attended Northern Virginia Community College Medical Campus in Springfield VA and received his Associates Degree in Applied Science for Physical Therapist Assistant. He became licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia and practiced as a LPTA until shortly before his death. Louis found strength to meet his own health battle by focusing on others.
Louis loved nature and Rappahannock was truly home. He grew up camping, hunting and fishing in the area and this love of the outdoors continued throughout his life and sustained his soul.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, 09 October 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 379 Gay St., Washington VA with Rev. Jennings Hobson III officiating.
A private family interment followed in Woodville Cemetery.
