Lorraine D. Woodley's Obituary
Lorraine D. Woodley, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Bumpass, VA on March 29, 2026. She was born in Waltham, Massachusetts, August 20, 1933 to Nora Jennings and David E. Olson, and was the last survivor of ten children.
Lorraine graduated from Franklin County Public Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. She worked for many years as an RN in various hospitals in the Greenfield, MA area and various hospitals when she moved to Virginia in the early 1970s. Lorraine married Richard 'Boots' Woodley in July 1973. She raised nine children, and was known for taking in the many others she 'adopted' throughout the years.
She enjoyed family and friends, loving to host parties and other get-togethers. She loved celebrating the holidays. Her Christmas get-togethers were well attended and everyone who attended received a gift, no matter how many guests showed up unexpectedly. She loved dancing, country and western music. She also enjoyed gardening. She raised Saint Bernards for many years, loving all of her cats and dogs through the years. In her later years, she enjoyed reading and watching the hummingbirds on the front porch.
She is survived by her children Jodi Perkins (Thane Perkins), Tony Brown (Rita Brown) of Mineral, VA, Richard Woodley, Andy Brown (Brenda Brown) of Bumpass, VA and son-in-law Fred Brown of Conway, MA; along with 27 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren (with another on the way), 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard 'Boots' Woodley; children, Eric Brown, Linday Olson, Sharon Brown, George Woodley, and Frank Woodley and three grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 10, 2026 at 11:00 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. Visitation will begin 10:00 am.
Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Jeffersonton, VA.
