Lorene Marie Brooks' Obituary
Lorene Marie Brooks passed away peacefully at her home in Partlow, Virginia on March 30, 2025, she was 82 years old.
She was a child care provider for most of her life, her children calling her “Meme.” She loved all of them like they were her own. She loved working in her flower garden, tending to her flowers, and going to the beach at the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
She was born on June 7, 1942, to the late Vannie Colie Brooks and Burnell Brooks Lawley. Including her parents Lorene was preceded in her death by her brothers, Wilentz “Punk” Brooks, James R. Brooks, and Robert “Joe” Brooks; and her sisters, Carolyn Brooks Williams and Doris Dean Seal.
Lorene is survived by her husband of 63 years, Waldo Franklin Brooks of Partlow, VA; her daughter, Stephanie Dawn Barker; her granddaughter, Katelyn Marie Barker; her brothers, Steve W. Brooks and wife, Karen Brooks of Williamsburg, VA, and Calvin R. Brooks and wife, Della Brooks of Spotsylvania, VA; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved cats, Peaches and Scrawny, and dog, Noel.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Gentiva Hospice team and her wonderful nurse Kim.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Hebron Baptist Church, 6431 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania, VA; with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Ellinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family welcomes everyone back to Hebron’s Social Hall after the burial.
