Lois Farr Rowe's Obituary
Lois Farr Rowe, faithful servant, passed into the arms of her dear Lord Jesus on March 16, 2025, at the age of 98.
Lois was born in French West Africa on May 5, 1926, the daughter of missionaries. At the age of 1, her mother passed on to Glory. Her father returned to the U.S., remarried, and settled in New England as a Pastor. She had one brother and two sisters. She learned to play the piano and organ as a child, serving in the church throughout her life.
She attended Gordon College in Boston, MA, where she met and married Ed Rowe. They had 4 children, David, Rebecca, Ruth, and Deborah. There were multiple moves, living in Montana, Texas, California, New Jersey, Florida, Virginia. Wherever Lois went, she was loved by many, befriending people all over the country. Her impact was profound. She served God, family, and friends faithfully.
Lois and Ed moved to Culpeper, VA in 1980. She would go on to serve as a teacher and principal at Culpeper Christian School. She made Culpeper her final home on Earth, joining Novum Baptist Church, where she served as pianist and choir director for several years. Lois enjoyed many years with her daughter Deb and son-in-law Mike Pruitt in the beautiful woods of Culpeper.
Lois Rowe was an avid student of the Bible, also teaching Bible studies throughout her life. She was a mentor to many, a friend to all. She wrote poetry prolifically, adored the beauty of God’s creation, could play hymns on the piano like no other, and loved her dear Lord Jesus and served Him faithfully all her life.
Lois is survived by her husband Ed, sister Nell Farr, son David Rowe (wife Hazel), daughter Deb Pruitt (husband Mike), beloved grandchildren Brian Rowe, Charity Gravel, Alex Rowe, Melissa Pruitt, Nanci Vardaman, Andrew Kim, and 18 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren.
A “Celebration of Eternal Life” will be held at Novum Baptist Church on Sunday May 25. The church will serve lunch at 12:30, with the service to follow at 1:30. All who loved Lois are welcome!
