Linwood Irvin Payne Jr.'s Obituary
Linwood Irvin Payne Jr. 66 passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 after a long illness in a Woodbridge nursing home. He was a life- long resident of Culpeper who was born June 23, 1945 in Charlottesville, Virginia to the late Linwood Irvin Payne Sr. and Irene Frances Smith Payne. He is preceded in death by one daughter Billie Jo.
Mr. Payne was a member of many social clubs including Moose, Elks, The Pot and Kettle and Bears Unlimited of Stevensburg. He was self-employed as a master carpenter for many years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gun collector. He enjoyed living his life outdoors, his hunting dogs, fast cars and trucks. He enjoyed spending time on his CB Radio where he was known as “Jeremiah”. He loved his children and held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He was a special father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Mr. Payne is survived by the mother of his children, Rosemary Hardin of Culpeper, one daughter, Susan Rolka and her fiancé Eric Grube of Fredericksburg, two sons, Stephen and Carla Payne of Stafford and Brian Payne of Fredericksburg. Two sisters Shirley Kelly and her husband Michael of Manassas and Jean Garr of Orange, Virginia. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Shawn and Lindsay Thacker, Stephen Brummett, Matthew, Nathan, Alyssa and Megan Payne, Courtney Baird, Boone and Patrick Heath, and Cody Brown. He is also survived by five great grandchildren, Jayden, Joseph, Stevie Jr., Peyton and Hayden.
The family will receive friends Friday May 18, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike of Culpeper.
A private family Inurnment will be at a later time.
