Linwood T. "Tommy" Hutcherson, Jr.'s Obituary
Linwood T. “Tommy” Hutcherson, Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville following a brief illness. He was born March 1, 1951, in Culpeper, Virginia, to the late Linwood T. and Virginia Elizabeth Hutcherson.
Starting in his teenage years, Tommy did tree and landscaping work and also sold firewood, and soon after became a mechanic for Culpeper Firestone. His passion was towing though, so he and Nancy opened Tommy’s Towing in 1986 in a one-bay garage where he performed mechanical work on all types of vehicles. Nancy has always been his biggest supporter, working by his side in the office every day.
Tommy was a man who loved his family above all else, and even though the tow calls interrupted many plans and family dinners, he always made time for short trips with Nancy and making memories with his sweet granddaughter, affectionately known as Baby Girl.
Tommy has been involved with the Culpeper County Towing Advisory Board since it was created and has been a member of the Board for several years. He was also a supporter of Reva Volunteer Fire & Rescue as well as other Culpeper fire companies.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Nancy; daughter, Rebecca (Carlos); and granddaughter, Nancy. Also surviving Tommy is his brother, Billy Hutcherson (Lisa); niece, Elizabeth (her son Joshua); and nephew, William (his children Aveonna, Evan, Honesty, and O’Sirus).
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers serving the family will be Jimmy Hall, Cliffton Wilson, Carlos Arevalo, Terry Waters, Joshua Garten, and William Hutcherson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Tommy’s memory to Reva Volunteer Fire & Rescue, 18230 Birmingham Road, Culpeper.
